We invite you to view the Ice Boxes between March 1st and March 10th at the SPA Delhi Architecture Block Campus. The Ice Boxes will be displayed along with information about the design and purpose of these little structures. Please see the map for specific information on the location.
A metric tonne of ice will be installed into the Ice Boxes on Friday, March 1st at SPA Delhi and interesting workshops will take place on the following days.

Ice Box Opening Ceremony
The inauguration of the Ice Box Challenge will take place on Friday 1st of March from 11 AM to 5:30 PM. A panel discussion and a technical session, including a tour of the ice boxes, will take place in the afternoon.
Student workshop
A student workshop about sustainable design, the Eco Niwas Samhita standard and Passive House fundamentals will take place on Saturday 2nd of March from 13:30 PM to 6:00 PM.
Transparent component workshop
A workshop on transparent components will take place on Wednesday 6th of March from 13:30 PM to 6:00 PM. It will include, among other things, presentations about high performance facade components, PV integration, experience from the manufacturer of the first Indian certified Passive House window and also experience from Germany.
Opaque envelope workshop
A workshop on transparent components will take place on Friday 8th of March from 13:30 PM to 6:00 PM. Come and learn about precast panel construction, the role of insulation and airtightness in achieving enhanced energy efficiency, low embodied energy and insights into the Passive House standard.
Ice Box Reveal Ceremony!
On Saturday 9th of March at 11 AM, the Ice Boxes will be opened to see how much ice remains. We will weigh the ice, see which is box performed best and announce the 3 winners of the “Guess How Much Ice Will Remain“! We will also discuss which components played a critical role in achieving energy efficiency, as well as the thermal parameters that were recorded.
After the reveal, you will have the opportunity to have a look inside the boxes to check the components and detailing.
Visits throughout the week
The Ice Boxes will be on display from the 1st until the 10th of March. Stop by and take a peek through the high-performance window at the ice melting (exciting!).
